[etni] Re: MP3 players for tests

I'm so encouraged to hear that Alon School is using MP3s. Thinking about the
Recording Studio thing, I have to mention that I've been using Audacity for a
few years now to record tests and unseens. Because of the cassette system and
the inevitable Walkman practice that was required, I'd record myself, burn a CD
and then transfer to a cassette. For multiple cassettes, I'd have to rely on
the double tape recorder (we've had only one that worked these past couple of
years) and then count on a few hours to prepare cassettes for students.
That kind of time simply isn't needed when using MP3s. The files are clean and
the transfer direct, so in short, the system is far better.The deletion of
files after a test and the uploading before a test is minimal. E-mail file
transfer makes sure that the files are accessible no matter which computer
you're on (although, yes, it involves a download).
I fully agree with Nicole that it's preferable by far for students doing this
Winter Bagrut to bring a discman or CD player. All those tracks will make MP3
transfer tricky. Students will receive a menu and listening will be
straightforward (as long as the player works).
Anyone else who's got experience in MP3 usage, please offer your findings.
