Hi It's that time of year again when we all have to wake up to 20th century technology while we are well into the 21st. I have taken part in this etni debate numerous times in the past, so excuse me for having the dejavu feeling. We have been using mps for years with our kids at Maayan High School. Now that the tests are sent on discs our work is much easier. However, we do have the problem of ripping the tracks from the disc to mp3 format. It is by far much quicker and easier than the previous cassette transfer, but it is still annoying. Why cn't we just get the ministry to email the schools mp3 files the morning of the exam? Simplicity works!!! Just for the record, we DON'T buy the mp3s for the kids - they bring us their 'machines', with the chords that go with them. They have to bring them to us some 24 hours prior to their exam - EACH exam, not just the bagrut, and they are labeled with their name and the module they are doing. It works well. With all the 'ripping' and recording that goes on, as well as oral tests and recording to to tapes, I don't exactly get to see the bagrut papers till the following day, at the earliest. I am sure other racazim like me are in a similar situation I know it has taken years for the ministry to move from cassettes to discs but now we need to get together in urging the ministry testing department to move from discs to mp3s.
