[etni] Unfortunately, the Irgun's achievements don't have much impact

Hi Ronit
Could you explain what's with the 2% gmul?  That is not connected to the hours
we get for bagrut gmul, is it? If one teaches yudbet 5pt, F and G, does that
mean one should be getting 4%? And where do they appear on our paycheck?
Re the Irgun having achieved things- I basically agree with you that Ran Erez
is the best we can get in our present situation, but he is still not good
enough. He may have reached a number of impressive agreements with the
ministries, but when these agreements are not honored, they have little value.
Just an example: the union has signed an agreement raising the salary of bagrut
markers (including oral bagrut testing, if I'm not mistaken) from 126 to 140
per hour. This agreement was supposed to take effect retroactively from Sept
2008. Bagrut markers keep turning to the marvad, wondering why they are not
getting paid according to the new rate. And the marvad keeps telling them that
as long as the marvad doesn't receive official notification from the Ministry
of Ed, they won't change the rate. The Irgun is aware of the situation, but
THEY keep saying they "are working on it". In the mean time nearly 3 moedim
have passed and bagrut markers still
haven't gotten the money! I'm afraid the same will happen with the agreement
on reducing the number of students per class and the additional hours the
students are supposed to get. So yes, on paper the Irgun has achieved things. It
is just a pity that we don't seem to be able to benefit from them.

Since when has Etni become a political arena and promote the election of
Dudi Freedman? Don't you think you have crossed the line here? and to say
that ran Erez has not achieved anything since the strike is misleading. Let
me refresh your memory. The union has achieved several things:

1. raising public awareness to the issue of education, making it one of the
top most debated topics among politicians.

2. not alowing the government to enforce Ofek Hadash (which is not about an
educational revolution - but is merely a bad financial arrangement) on high
school teachers.

3.  2% for each module (which sums up to 4% raise).

4.  extra hours/payment for working with LD students.

The irgun's job is to protect teachers' rights and Erez does it
professionally. To fight the sharks at the Treasury you need a shark and
Erez is.
