As a former speech therapist, I would recommend working with rhyming pairs
of words e.g. and - hand
eat - heat
Practice pronouncing them at the word level and then put them into
sentences.
Good luck,

P.S. It is a typical Israeli phenomenon. My daughter in kita aleph would
write "halachti" (I walked) with an aleph as she didn't hear or pronounce
the "hey" - it's a very common spelling mistake for Hebrew speakers. Many
moons ago I once met an Israeli who I was convinced was a med. student as he
told me he was studying "heart" - it turned out he was an art student:-)
