To all teachers of Grade 11 English Speaker classes, whose students took the
new English Bagrut exam this year:

It appears clear to most of us that something terribly went wrong with the
system this year.

In a perfect society, one would expect some measure of accountability, but
unfortunately we fear that only our students will pay a hefty price for this
faux pas.

We feel that we ? the teachers, who are on the front line, and whom the
students trusted to prepare them for the task at hand ? must do our best
even now at this late stage to restore our students' faith, their parents'
faith, the school's faith, and also our own faith ? in the system.

We therefore want to do our best in discovering exactly what went wrong and
then try to find a way to best correct this ? not only for students who are
taking the new exam in years to come, but for those who already took it this
year.

We feel that the first step is to have a clear picture as to the results of
the grade 11 English Bagrut exam ? and the discrepancy between these results
and the magen grades, which were based on our own understanding of the new
exam.

We have asked the ETNI team to put up a questionnaire for teachers of Grade
11 English Speakers to fill out. This questionnaire will ask you for a
breakdown in the range of grades that you gave for the magen, and the
breakdown of the range of grades of the actual Bagrut exam results.
In order to ensure that this data is authentic, we ask you also to fill in
the name of the school and your own initials when filling in the form. Your
school name and initials will not appear in any summary of the results of
the questionnaire ? however we will have this information to refute any
claims that the information was fabricated.

The URL of the questionnaire is ?

If, by any chance, you have a problem filling in the online form, write to
this special email that has been set up by a small group of concerned
teachers ? nativeenglishspeakers@xxxxxxxxxxx - and we will send you the
form by email to be filled in and returned by email.

If any of you have further ideas, at this time, as to how best approach this
issue, please write the ETNI list ? or write us, if you prefer not to write
publicly to the list for any reason.
