Hi all, I've been following the back and forth regarding the projects or lack thereof during an oral exam. I decided to ask a lawyer friend of mine what the law would say regarding such a circumstance. He said that when a tester shows up at a school to test, they are actually representatives of the MOE working under "Ktav Minuie". This makes MOE their boss at that given point in time even though they may not work directly for the ministry the rest of the year. What the tester should do when presented with such a situation is call his/her inspector and receive specific instructions. This is what I will do regardless of the union I belong to. Even better, I will call the coordinator of the school where I'm testing beforehand and ask if there are students without projects and then get instructions before I arrive. I certainly understand Nina and others and this is a very difficult situation to deal with but I feel that we simply don't have the option of doing whatever we want as testers. This situation puts another nail in the coffin of English teaching. As I have said before we will see more and more teachers leaving the profession. Many will say; after all the work, the sanctions, the HOTS, the problems with the projects, the joke salary, who needs it? Goodbye. Then, when the MOE sees that there is a distinct lack of qualified English teachers and something must be done, then serious change will happen. Until then we will continue to voice our displeasure and hope for the best. Shabbat Shalom.
