If there is no gps fix, the gps will report the last position it had a position fix. There are a number of ways of checking for satellites. G for gps status, waas (if available), accuracy in distance and number of satellites. Q for detailed quality gps status, which gives more info than pressing g, it will give a rating (poor, fair, good and very good), hdop and vdop. G will be more much more meaningful and less technical.

hi Alice

I also have that problem, it is usually because I have not got a GPS fix yet and it just assumes I am where I was, I tend to press Q which gives you the quality ie how many satellites, it there is not fix it then tries to get one. There probably is a more correct way to do this but it works for me!

I do often encounter the problem that even though I'm miles away from where I ended up last time I used the gps, it keeps telling me I'm there
when I'm miles and miles away and have a connection.

Thanks.
