If there is no gps fix, the gps will report the last position it had a position fix. There are a number of ways of checking for satellites. G for gps status, waas (if available), accuracy in distance and number of satellites. Q for detailed quality gps status, which gives more info than pressing g, it will give a rating (poor, fair, good and very good), hdop and vdop. G will be more much more meaningful and less technical.

hi AliceI also have that problem, it is usually because I have not got a GPS fix yet and it just assumes I am where I was, I tend to press Q which gives you the quality ie how many satellites, it there is not fix it then tries to get one. There probably is a more correct way to do this but it works for me!TonyIn a message dated 18/04/2010 23:16:02 GMT Daylight Time, alicedh@xxxxxxxxxxx writes: What's AGPS update? I have never heard of this, and although my connectiontimes aren't usually too long, it might make things better!I do often encounter the problem that even though I'm miles away from where I ended up last time I used the gps, it keeps telling me I'm therewhen I'm miles and miles away and have a connection.
