Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
The manual was just updated, it will be fixed in the next version.

Hi, Chris

Yes, I am using 2013.3 but had missed the user.pdb file in sharedPOIs.
Deleting the file has, indeed, cleared the problem and, so, I can now start
creating POIs again. However, I'm slightly confused by the manual as it
says that the user.pdb file is created in the folder holding maps and
commercial POIs rather than in sharedPOIs.

Thanks very much for your help.

Richard Bartholomew

Is this 2013 that you are using? Remember with 2012 and 2013 the user.pdb
file is not located in maps, it is located in sharedPOIs.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions but, unfortunately, I don't have a user.pdb
file
as one has never been created by the process. I have tried creating an
empty file to see if this would help but it doesn't! Also, my initials
are
in the author field, ie rlb.

Hi,
Try and rename your user.pdb file and try again, perhaps it is bad.
Also make sure your POI author name is set correctly. IE it has
characters and isn't just a space.

Thanks for reply and hope you have a great day zip lining - sounds like
some
good fun!

Yes, I have tried creating a POI without adding media but still get the
same
results, I'm afraid.

Richard,

Have you been able to create a user POI without media? Normally, one
presses
Space with dot 3, enter the name and category and click through to
finish.
If you want to add a media clip, you can do so on the BrailleNote but
not
the Braille Sense. Also, to change the category on the Braille Sense
from
User Private to Public or another category like Restaurant, you need to
use
the Modify button after the Point is originally created.

The User.pdb file will be created once you record your first point. Then
remember to use Sendero Maps to share your points with others.

Off to do some zip lining today.

Mike

Subject: [gps-talkusers] CREATING A USER POI

Hi,

For various reasons, I've been virtually housebound for the past few
months
and, so, have not had the need to do this but, over the past week, I
have
been trying but without success! I am using version 2013.3, Build 499
on
an
Apex BT32.

I appear to be following the steps laid out in the manual but every time
I
get to the final one, ie "Add Media File", and hit enter on either
"None"
(my preference) or "Description", I get the message "operation
cancelled"!
I have tried this numerous times (including after reboots) but still the
same problem.

The user.pdb file does not exist anywhere and definitely not in my
default
directory for maps and POIs. The storage device I'm using is not
write-protected and I have been able to create files on it via other
means.

Anyone got any ideas, please, as I know I'll be doing something
fundamentally and stupidly wrong!

Thanks in anticipation.

Richard Bartholomew
