I wish good maps had a virtual explore feature. That would be so nice to have
something like this on the iPhone. I know that soundscape has a virtual explore
feature but it is so cumbersome to use it it’s just not worth it.

i have them and really enjoy them. In most areas, especially urban areas,
the street layout isn't going to change, so the maps will be usable for the

The Sendero PC windows maps program still works and I use it weekly. The maps
have not been updated but that’s not a major detraction.
It is nothing like the Google or Apple maps products. Those are not designed
for virtual exploration in the same way as the windows application is. They
all have their strengths and weaknesses. The Sendero PC maps product was
around for about 18 years so I had a pretty good run and as I say I’m still
using it and I think as lots of value

I sure am happy that I never wasted a penny on that program. I always opted
for the better Apple Maps or Google maps. They’ve always worked quite well
and I didn’t have to pay an outrageous fee for them. I knew that would
happen.

I am seeing a disturbing trend where great products are developed, then
abandoned after several years.it is most unfortunate that there is no
robust, PC-based mapping program. I work in the bus service planning
department at a transit agency, and can't stress enough how much value that
software would be to me in my work. At least I can still use Nearby
Explorer to examine an area, but it is still less comfortable to use than a
computer-based program, which could still be used in my field work. But on
a positive note, I like the direction Goodmaps is going.

Ian,
All development on Sendero PC Maps ceased after 2018. No new maps.
I still use it regularly. There is no tool like it. Certainly some new
POIs are not in it. Streets don’t update as frequently as POIs.
The SF Lighthouse is handling Sendero Maps should anyone need it or have
questions.

Sorry! Is Sendero PC Maps under development as well? The latest version of
that is 2018.
