Thank you for care on school education.
The Matric. syllabus is discussed in a systematic way,
last week group of teachers had a seminor at CBE under Pro. Gnanam and
discussed the issues.
At present Our Educaiton system is based on Marks
you have to score the maximum possible marks.
it is because, we are unable to come to a common understanding on the
Evaluvation system. Whether it is Objective Type Questions, or Descriptive
Type or Continuous internal assesment or Practical Exams.
More over, we have to test on all the above to have a better understanding
about student.
well, The text book should be prepared in a manner that it will help the
students to understand the subject.
Teacher training is another aspec
Recently the 11th std, books are revised and published. we had the same level
of discussions , we got the books late, students changedthe group because of
the size of the book.
i have introduced StarOffice in 6th and 7th , but it has become a failure,
because the students are unable to practise at home.
As you mentioned, we have to introduce the Conepts like, WordProcessing,
SpreadSheet, Database, web browser rather than brand name. But because of
the examination presser, the students forget. [ most of the Matric. schools,
did not allow the students to learn, but they have to complete the portion ]
here are some of the positive impacts of the new syllabus.
1) Tamil Computing,
2) latest topics like call centers, atm , VoIP,etc
3) Linux file system.
4) Internet related applications
here are some of the realities.
1)The salay of the Computer Teachers are very low [ around 2000 /- ] , that
leads to lack of motivation.
2) the computer teachers are forced to do school office clerical work [ in the
name of computerization ] to get a better certificate from the HM
3) Some or not qualified teachers
4) Many did not under go Bacheler of education, so they did not understand the
students psycology.
5) The management may not support to upgrade the hardware and software.
[ many teachers did not know how to write in CD and how to configure email
client or internet connections ]
6) the teachers are not encouraged to update [ permission will be denied to
study further ]
7)Most of the computer teachers are still thinking that oneday they will join
in a multinational company
i have few more realities, which i can not share in a public list like this.
in matriculation shcools, the conditions are far better. many ofthe above
points are void. but you have to add another point "ego"
