it provides multiple mailing list under common user base, which would be
best suitable for this decentralised discussion..


The reason for the creation of a FB group is to attract more volunteers
into the community, etc. It not because of the lack of functionality.
Sadly, no other social network has the popularity even to Facebook in
India.
Even though I am personally not a fan of Facebook, it will provide ILUGC to
get more volunteers to organize events. And members like me who prefer the
mailing list, can continue taking part in the discussions here. :)
