[Ilugc] Ctl+l

The Ctl+l shortcut refuses to clear screen as it used to. It has decided
not to obey bash and has
taken a life of its own; returns a puny 'l' ! Any solutions, I am in Squeeze!
Of course 'clear' still works.
It is most likely something to do with the terminal type you have set,
What is your current terminal type ?
