if at all, the device drivers are most likely to be the first to be
hit by a newer kernel. device drivers coming with the kernel tar
ball will (almost) always work with the new kernel. but if you are
using a device driver, which you got from the manufacturer's web
site and not through kernel source, test that device first with the
new kernel, and make sure the device is working well. if not, check
the manufacturer's site for a newer version corresponding to the new
kernel.
