However, for something as complex as KDE, with all the version dependancies
on it, it may be approximately the same effort to uninstall and re-install.
Difficult call to make, especially for a bleeding edge package like KDE 3.3.
Try it out and tell us how it went :-).
Hint: set aside about a day or two for this task.

If you can get hold of rpms for ur distro (RH 8 here) then an upgrade
is the easiest way to go. I came back from holidays yesterday and in
the meanwhile, KDE 3.3 was released and binary packages found their
way to the SuSE supplementary ftp tree. When I ran apt-get update &&
apt-get upgrade.. it downloaded and installed 3.3 and all I had to do
was relogin to enjoy the latest goods from KDE.
On a side note, there's nothing much that has changed since KDE 3.2.
Konqueror is leaner, kopete has some UI fixes, and some general
pruning. The only change that's worthwhile for me is the new Kmilo
service - a port of tpb for KDE. Now I can get some nice gui to go
with my thinkpad's buttons.
