I myself a long time Fedora user and a RHCE, but I personally suggest you to
choose some other distro if you are not a hacker by yourself.
What bug do you claim udev introduces?
Most modern distros of linux use udev and it is quite stable and far
more efficient than the old static /dev tree as far as I can see.
