Try parted
Once i ran into similar situation, where none or the softwares like,
fdisk, PartitionManager etc helped.
Then i booted into Knoppix CD which has QT Parted in it,
then i made all changes and it went on fine.
From that time on, i was too impressed with QT Parted.
