I'm totally comfortable to rsync and all that. The difficult bit is
"the other guys" who will not quit using ftp and embrace modern file
distribution technology.
My ftp mirror will be a critical piece of software, and it's imperative
that it works/fails gracefully. Hence my reluctance to deploy a weekend
hack. I've decided to customize 'mirror' for my task and see how it
goes.
