well, it is sunday morning and still going. i am afraid i
mis-estimated the size of pool/universe. as of now, we are at
pool/universe/p and the universe tree is already about 25gb. the
rest of the stuff put together is about 30gb. that makes ubuntu the
biggest tree in the ftp.iitm mirror, even more than debian, which is
about 35gb.
I am actually surprised! How is it that Ubuntu is so large? Is it that
multiple versions of the same package is installed? I did check it
out; but it seems that multiple versions are needed to make them work
across Warty, Dapper and Edgy (I think); maybe some more experienced
Ubuntu'er can chip in with the explanation.
In any case, I hope people make good use of this once the mirror is
complete.

I have apt-get updated/upgraded my Ubuntu 6.10 Beta from IITM mirror
yesterday. the speed was around 50-60KBps while downloading the package.
