[Ilugc] ubuntu 6.06 lts crashing on installation

+1 Had the same problem.
The Installer hung during the partitioning stage and never proceeded.
This was after multiple tries and even after trying different media.
Heard that the 'alternate CD' works better but I've never tried it.

Try the safe graphics mode in startup. That worked for me better that the
default one...
