I am working with dapper drake 6.06 LTS. Amazing installation process with
the same CD , but this time with a different machine ,dell latitude d620. I
can do my installation on the fly, but with the same media the installation
failed with the older 845/865/d101ggc motherboards. As of now i am not in a
position to buy the point the installation failure is due to Media error.
Your esteemed comments on this..
Try with the alternate install cd, use text mode.
BTW - updated to edgy yesterday. I _love_ (or not) its habit of
renaming all the partitions in fstab with uuid=[some long string]
That way - with lvm / mdadm setup on my box, it couldnt detect my
partitions and so a running kernel wouldnt boot. Had to modify
mdadm.conf to ROOT=/dev/hda1 instead of ROOT=probe and then run mkinitrd
to get myself a fresh initrd for that kernel (the old 2.6.15.7 from dapper).
Blazing fast startup though, I'll give it that.
