For me, when I tried Fedora, the Wifi didn't work whereas it worked
with Ubuntu. The interface came up as ath0. I believe most cards work
only if you use ndiswrappers and windows drivers (or some such) which
Fedora refuses to do.
Thats because Ubuntu ships with proprietary firmware and drivers by
default while Fedora does not. You can get firmware from third party
repositories or project websites like
http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/ ;
and get it working fine. The Intel wireless drivers were present in the
Fedora kernel for a while before it was upstreamed. With the firmware in
place, it wouldnt require ndiswrapper.
