I have been wondering about this ever since Jim brought it up the first time. I have only just tested it, but so far it works for me. If you are using the SayAll to test this, make sure that you are using the synthesizer that was active when you adjusted the settings. Apparently these adjustments effect only the synthesizer that was active at the time that the settings were changed. I will include the help text taken from the config manager punctuation settings dialogue. Select the punctuation symbol to modify from this list. To change how JAWS speaks the symbol, press F2. To change the level at which JAWS speaks the symbol, press SPACEBAR. The symbol is always announced at and above the specified punctuation level. For example, setting a symbol to none means that JAWS always speaks it. In addition, if you want a symbol to not be spoken, you must first set the default punctuation to Most or lower and then, set the level for the character to be silenced to All. These changes only affect the active synthesizer. I tried to tell JAWS not to speak the greater than (>) symbol by using this feature, but it didn't honour the setting. I even tried changing the punctuation level, but it again didn't honour the setting. The only workaround was to make an entry in the dictionary manager, replacing the greater than (>) with a space. This is with JAWS 8 build 423. Chris Hallsworth BrailleNote mPower user ----- Original Message ----- From: Jim Noseworthy To: Jfw-Employment@Yahoogroups. Hi Folks: I am finding that, in the latest build of JAWS 8, the "customize punctuation" options are not working. Can anyone verify whether or not this is indeed the case? Thanks all over the place gang. __________ View the list's information and change your settings at http://www.freelists.org/list/jawsscripts
