well not exactly, there is at least one more choice, the dual sound cards, a much cheaper than the external synthesizer solution, and another possible option if you follow the entirety of the subject line

Hi, this is a feature that we have been requesting since eloquence made its debute.
Right now you have two choises:
Get an external hardware synthecizer, or upgrade to windows vista as it does have an independent mixer control for jaws, even if the recording controls mixer is worthless.
Either way you are looking at forking out a few royals.

This is a pretty cool suggestion!--would have never thought of this.

On the other hand, I don't want to completely disable the jaws sound, I just
need to be able to turn it up or down on the fly.

hi Matthew,
i'm not a scripter and no idea to how to slow down the volume of jaws with
scripting. but i have one suggestion and i myself was
using it.

go to default keymap file and look for "mute synthesizer", set a keystroke
for it and activate that keystroke when need to listen to
music/dvds. this keystroke is toggle, so you can press the second time to
unmute it. i set mine to JawsKey+BackSpace.

hope this can help you a little.

Warmest Regards,
Allan Wong

Hi all,

Sorry for the double posting, but I am going nuts with the jaws volume.
I'm
wondering if there is a way of somehow being able to turn down the jaws
voice without turning down the Windows system volume? That is, when
listening to any kind of audio, when one wants to raise the audio as in
music or a DVD, one must also deal with the jaws volume shredding one's
eardrums because the eloquence voice is so damn loud! Is there a
programming
fix or possibly even a scripting fix?

Matthew
