When I get into the Help docs from within the program, the JAWS script utility
mode reports:
Owner application
hhctrl.ocx
If I try to go up a level then JAWS reports no parent window.
Hitting JAWSKey+Q reports:
Microsoft Html Help settings are used in the hhctrl.ocx application.
I have been baffled for some time now about why, when opening a help__________
file from within a program, JAWS is unable to navigate the help
system. If the CHM file for the program is opened from within Windows
Explorer, however, all seems to work fine.
In my scripts I have added the Use statement:
Use "HTML and Windows Help.jsb"
Which seems to be the JSB file that is active when the CHM file is
opened from within Windows Explorer since hitting JAWSKey+Q says:
Microsoft Html Help settings are used in the hhctrl.ocx application.
Generally I advise users to open the CHM file from within Windows
Explorer when this happens, but it seems like it should be possible to
just open the same documentation from within a program and navigate if
the above Use statement is used in the scripts for the program.
Any idea what is going on here or how to get around this issue?
Thanks.
