This may not apply at all to your situation but ... I have trouble with the menu bar in many applications. I use windows vista, and in some cases, when I can't seem to access the menu bar or jaws doesn't want to speak it, I move the mouse pointer around a bit and bada bing, I can get to the menu bar and jaws speaks it!
