Dear Team YETI,

Kindly circulate the following,

I am looking for four local volunteers to work with me on a human-wolf
interactions study in West Bengal. The details are mentioned below.

Hello!

I am working on a project titled ā€œUnderstanding human-wolf interactions
through a socio-ecological lens in a human-dominated landscape of West
Bengal, Indiaā€ as a part of my Masterā€™s dissertation, where I will be
conducting questionnaire surveys in and around a non-protected forest of
Durgapur, West Bengal. The study aims to understand the attitude of locals
towards wolves to help in collecting information on conflict and
depredation. For this, I require four highly motivated* local* volunteers
with a keen interest in wildlife and human-wildlife interactions. The
volunteers should be capable of working independently in the landscape and
be good at communicating with locals.

*Duration:* Early February to mid/late April

*Work involved:* The volunteers will be required to conduct structured
interviews based on questionnaires on the KOBO Collect app in the
households of the study area. (A possibility of volunteering opportunity
for sign survey of canids exists, conditional to timely receipt of
permissions)

*Desirable qualifications: *B.Sc in Zoology/Social Science/Life
Science/Environmental Science. Students currently pursuing their degrees
can also apply. Any previous fieldwork experience is not mandatory but
would be preferred. Understanding, speaking, writing and reading Bengali is
compulsory as the work requires communication with locals.

*The volunteers should be local residents or residents of nearby areas.*

*The volunteer positions are unpaid, but a certificate of appreciation will
be provided on the successful completion of the project.*

*About me:* I am a final year M.Sc Wildlife Science student at the Amity
Institute of Forestry and Wildlife, AUUP, supervised by Dr Janmejay
Sethy- *Assistant
Professor, AIFW, AUUP, Noida* and Dr Anthony Giordano- *SPECIES, Ventura,
California, USA.* I have previously worked as a Project Officer in
WWF-India in the Tiger Conservation Program and have also previously worked
on Clouded leopards in Northeast India. More about me here
