The disk is authored to *prevent* the zoom control on the player from working. If it were allowed to work the 4:3 screen would be full. 



Then why not have the player makers simply incorporate an override,
so you can ALWAYS adjust anything you please? That would
fix everything.

The Chinese are very flexible.
