Note: Apple has now posted versions of the keynote that do not require HTTP Live streaming support.
I too had an issue - my Powerbook is still running OSX - v 10.5.8, which does not support the new HTTP Live streaming server.

Apple has submitted the HTTP Live streaming server protocol to the IETF for standardization; it is currently listed as an Internet Draft standard. For now, however, it is only supported by OSX 10.6 and iOS 3/4 working with QuickTime X.
There was a report yesterday that Apple was testing its new server complex in Maiden, North Carolina

Regards CraigP.S. I strongly suspect that this technology is also integrated into Apple's FaceTime video conferencing capabilities, which were just added to the iPod Touch, and may be a component of Airplay, which allows iOS devices to stream content to the new $99 AppleTV box.
