Given my druthers (and I have had much coffee) the only frame rate standard in use would be a profile max frame rate (72?, 120?) to limit to what decoders could handle. New fixed pixel displays (which don't flicker anyway) would just display at the variable rate needed, creating sort of a universal solvent for PAL conversions, etc. But nobody has asked me. :-( - Tom John Shutt wrote: > Why in the world didn't we adopt a single worldwide standard when we had the > chance? > > 720p @ 72 (3x24) > > Everybody gets high motion, everybody gets some flicker from local lighting, > and films could be shown in their intended speed with a "3:3" pull-down. > > At the very least, I wish we in the United States would have gotten rid of > that nasty 29.97 fps frame rate, and finally see the death to drop frame > SMPTE time code! 29.97 and 59.94 should have never been adopted! > > Coffee, where's my coffee... > > John Shutt > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Terry Harvey" <tjharvey@xxxxxxx> > >>24p should be only relegated to Hollywood where the producers there like >>and are accustomed to film judder.
