Since 480 at 60p and 720 at 24p require similar transmission bandwidths, I suppose there's that tradeoff to consider. I suspect that Doug would have loud objections to transmitting his favorite games as 480 60p rather than 720 60p or 1080i. I suppose what will happen is that as more and more higher quality TVs get out there in the viewing public's homes, the networks will gravitate to higher quality transmissions. I doubt any network would like to be known as the network with softer images.
