Yup. They mention, essentially, municipal nets or more ad-hoc community
networks. Precisely the sorts of efforts that utilities, in general, are set up
to avoid. And that this one corrupt FCC Chairman doesn't understand, as he also
doesn't get his job description. He seems to think the FCC Chairman job is to
be the go-to guy for three or four giant monopolies.
Funny thing is, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the Chairman will try to block
these local and municipal efforts, just as he tries to block states from
writing their own neutrality rules. Hey, you know that neutrality will be THE
main requirement, for any of these alternative methods. As much as the
half-wits like to cluck that nothing will change, we all saw how MVPDs evolved
over time. It might not happen overnight, but it will happen over time.
This issue will percolate in just about the right schedule, to give any yes-men
politician idiots something to think about, for the mid-term elections. Should
be amusing.
