You may be right. My father has HD via Comcast on two sets, a 42" plasma and a 52" LCD rear-projection system. Up-close they show much more artifacting than my OTA system, but at normal viewing distance they look fine. However, my screen is approximately 100", so there's a good chance the threshold for noticing the artifacts at normal viewing distance will be different. And I've seen plenty of complaints from DirecTV customers about their HD over-compression. I suspect I'll keep the OTA tuner wired to the system and switch to it whenever watching something live, most likely sporting events.
