Maybe the HD video source is spruced up to really give some sparkle. I also noticed really amazing HD from NBC, e.g. Jay Leno or even last night during the State of the Union address. Is that 1080i or 720p? In any case, I did experiment switching between the two. My set is 1024 X 768, 16:9, LCD (hence progressive), and both of my STBs have a switch to select the component output format: 480, 720p, or 1080i. All of those settings work fine. I noticed, up close, a little bit more artifacts when set to 1080i compared with 720p, so I set it to 720p. But it was not clear to me which was better from a seated position, a few feet away.
