Perhaps younger readers are not as sympathetic to ambiguity. As I get
older, I learn to appreciate it, but I too was a little rules lawyer
when I first read the books.

The question becomes how to strike the balance. Footnotes everywhere
can distract from the flow of the reading experience. Finding an
ambiguity in the rules can be jarring. Where is the ideal balance?
