This drastically changes Saturday from a celebration to a very somber occasion.
Franco has always been the Steeler with the greatest connection to me growing
up in southern New Jersey. His name always popped up and he owned several
businesses near me. Just last year my son had a game at his high school, and I
saw a really neat plaque in the hall.
Over the years I have met him several times but my favorite has to be the last
game played at Threw Rivers stadium. It was a crappy day yet there was Franco
walking through the parking lot socializing with fans.
Just yesterday I read Najee praising him for supporting one of Najee’s causes
at a local homeless fundraiser.
I could go on and on.
Simply put, he will be missed.
