I don't know how you only retire 32 if the impetus is the Immaculate Reception.
Similar to Eli to Tyree, that play doesn't happen if Bradshaw doesn't avoid
the sack.

I don’t know that Art is choosing Franco over Terry. I think he fell for a
sales pitch from marketing on promoting the 50th Anniversary of the Immaculate
Reception.

I didn’t - great minds think alike! LOL.
In the grand scheme of things - the items I mentioned have no impact on his NFL
career - and while he was great as a Steeler - retiring 32 before 12 just
doesn’t sit well with me - so while Bradshaw’s post career dance with the
Steelers, fans and the City - it shouldn’t matter - but apparently it does to

did you listen to the DK Podcast this morning? He addressed those same issues
and I think “IF” Franco was legitimately the next in line they would not change
anything. We as sports fans over look A LOT when it comes to stars. Franco was
not the accused at PSU and the Penguins never left town.
My issue is I think no jersey number should be retired. I liked the Steelers
model of not giving the number to new players as as quiet tribute to the past
and if I was to retire a number I can’t say Franco would be my top choice.
They are honoring the moment in history that arguably changed the franchise for
the better, just as important and draft Joe and hiring Chuck. I just don’t know
why a ceremony and a patch on players jerseys wasn’t enough , WHY go to the
next level and retire the jersey.
It’s a slippery slope, but also a good problem to have that was have so many
players we could argue for.
I am not happy about it but i plan on going to the game and being a part of it
so I will accept for what it is….as if i have any other choice 😂

Because of the 50th anniversary of the immaculate reception - I can
understand the reason for the retirement - but . . .
Considering: 1) the way he left the team; 2) his Paterno truther stance; 3)
actively politicking for a casino on the South Side that could’ve lead to the
Penguins moving to KC or Hamilton - 12 should’ve been the third number retired.

They weren't going to give #32 to anyone ever again anyway, so I say he
deserves it. Same for Bradshaw, but I think he needs to endear himself to the
team a bit more before that'll happen.

For years Stautner was the only retired number and I thought it would always be
that way. Too many HOFers to retire their numbers. Joe Greene made some sense
as the start of a new era in franchise history. I guess they will argue that
the Immaculate reception was a turning point in team history, but what next?
Ben, Troy... another player from the next era? Why not Swann, Stalworth, James
or Santonio for crucial plays in team history. I know it is the 50th
anniversary of the Immaculate Reception , but I don't like the idea of retiring
the numbers. Just my opinion.
