Hi,
I’ve a friend who, not a list member, in his work, uses Java 7.71 (the last
fully accessible version) with JAWS16. However, his job requires that he update
to the latest, not-very-accessible, Java 8.91 [latest] update, since everybody
else in the Department is using it. He works with a financial package, running
reports or creating purchase orders. The package requires the JRE to be
running. HTML5 isn’t an option, as that has been discussed and (apparently)
dismissed. I do have some experience of Java not working, myself, as I have a
app or two that won’t work because JAWS is [no longer] reading the Java
interface. [Here I’m primarily referring to the 32-bit Java. My friend tells me
that, in order for JAWS to work with Java, both the 64-bit and 32-bit versions
of Java need to be installed. (Why this is, I don’t know. I hadn’t come across
that till he told me last evening.)]
Thus, my question here in the subject line.
We’d appreciate any assistance.
