Well Flor, That's me back in my box, but hay, the more reading Braille the merrier. And now, suitably chastened, I'm going for a pint. No, it hasn't yet 'put paid to' braille. one of the reasons braile is so expensive is because people think that it has. Blind folk with less hearing still need to have braille from their computers. Braille is still used by blind computer users at work in non-English-speaking countries. There's also an argument gaining currency that children need to be able to really read - which they cannot do by only listening to speech - in order to attain true or adequate literacy. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Philip.Dunne@xxxxxxx> To: <vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, June 04, 2010 9:37 AM Subject: [vicsireland] Re: FW: Freedom Scientific Price Reduction on Screen Magnification Software Jane, I think that the advent of speech technology has put paid to Braille. It's only people of a certain age who would use it these days, speaking for myself, it's still my favourite option.
