I'm hopig this second attempt will get the message to list.
No, it hasn't yet 'put paid to' braille.  one of the reasons braile is
so expensive is because people think that it has.  Blind folk with less
hearing still need to have braille from their computers.  Braille is
still used by blind computer users at work in non-English-speaking
countries.  There's also an argument gaining currency that children need
to be able to
really read - which they cannot do by only listening to speech - in
order to attain true or adequate literacy.

I think that the advent of speech technology has put paid to Braille.
It's
only people of a certain age who would use it  these  days, speaking for
myself, it's still my favourite option.
