Mark Being based in the UK, I don't get involved much in the debates which go on in VICS, as they are based around issues which are locally related. However, both professionally and with my BCAB hat on, I have had an interest in affordable technology for a while and I think this is a subject worthy of attention on your blog. With the recent releases of SA2GO and Izoom (web), the face of access technology is changing. If your need is to write a letter, do a few emails and surf the net at home, these two products are getting good reviews. I wouldn't, at this stage, recommend either for use in an office, but for a home user, these appear to be affordable, stable, adequate tools for the job. Accessibility is not just about good design and usability of software and web pages, it is also about being able to afford to join the technology revolution and I think this move to web-based access technology that is affordable is going to make a huge change to the use of computers by visually impaired people. Discuss! Good luck with the blogging! Please tune in and ramp up the conversation. I'll be blogging about accessibility and usability of course. Although I'll write the posts and my name will be on them, my intention is to publicise the issues we're all concerned with, so I'm open to suggestions for good blog topics.
