I'm not a Linux user, so couldn't comment about Orca. But, products
like Orca tend to be for the techies amongst us. The market I am trying
to reach is the newly blind person, who is over the age of fifty and
more probably on a pension, who has no technology knowledge or
experience, but wants to send an email to the grandkids and write a
letter to the gasboard. They don't want or need Orca, they want
something they can use, that is simple, reliable, usable and affordable.
But still, isn't this discussion for Mark's blog?

Rockbox's development, licensing, and distriibution model is what I
am referring to. I don't care how good or cheap SAToGo is:
it very much follows the same model as JAWS et al; it just has a more
efficient distribution system. Nothing innovative or new there.
Actually, I can surf the web and read my email just fine with Orca or
brltty. These are the sorts of technologies that deserve funding and
investment so that we can use our computers out of the box.
I don't mean SAToGo is a swindle, but RoboBraille certainly is.
