Hi Jim,

Oho! I wouldn't have put the thing about Robobraille quite in the way you
put it, but I see whwere you are on it. People who already have screen
readers can use them to 'convert' documents into user-friendly formats.
Those of us who have refreshable braille, well, we already have refreshable
braille which can convert our user-friendly documents into braille.
Embosser-ready? We can get the free NFBTrans or Wintrans-bt

www.wintrans-bt.org
.
It may be a 'useful' vehicle for advertisers and for sighted people who know
zilch about access technology, to be able to quickly provide access-friendly
files and/or forms for the blind/VI user.

As for SAToGo, there are still security concerns surrounding its use in many
public places (such as libraries, etc.) How to get around those is to
purchase the Key To Freedom (thumb drive, similar to what you would do with
JAWS, or Window-eyes, or hal/Supernova). Maybe, new blind/VI computer users
might be attracted by the simplicities of operations in these new products.

Hi Steve,

Rockbox's development, licensing, and distriibution model is what I
am referring to. I don't care how good or cheap SAToGo is:
it very much follows the same model as JAWS et al; it just has a more
efficient distribution system. Nothing innovative or new there.
Actually, I can surf the web and read my email just fine with Orca or
brltty. These are the sorts of technologies that deserve funding and
investment so that we can use our computers out of the box.
I don't mean SAToGo is a swindle, but RoboBraille certainly is.
