In my case the icons were and are called "Internet Explorer"! During set-up (or should that be 'first run') of IE7, you're asked questions about what you would like as your home page. ----- Original Message ----- From: eoconnor@xxxxxxx To: vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, February 19, 2007 2:58 PM Subject: [vicsireland] Re: Internet Explorer 7, question Hi Flor, the thing is, that my desktop icon and start menu still report IE6, but not Windows Intternet Explorer, or IE7. . Could this really be IE7, without having been renamed? The only place I did find IE7 was in the add remove programs, along with IE6. So I'm left wondering if the installation was successful. As Darragh suggests, once I use it, it will be easy enough to verify. Is there anything there about tabs? If so, you have internet explorer 7. It's now called windows internet explorer so that is another way of distinguishing it. In relation to your firewall, If your new firewall supports the WMI, Windows Management Interface, XP will automagically turn off it's firewall as it understands that another, more powerful alternative has been installed. It shouldn't really matter though if you turn it off or not. I'd perhaps suggest that you just leave it on and let the software take care of it all. -------- Original Message -------- > From: eoconnor@xxxxxxx > Sent: 19 February 2007 13:29 > To: vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [vicsireland] Internet Explorer 7, question > > Hi folks, > > I installed IE7 last night. > > While doing so, (as expected,) , I had a number of warnings from Spybot > and Spyware Guard, relating to registery and other changes.
