Hi Tony, Don't worry about the brackets or quotation signs surrounding emaill adresses or parts of email addresses. they are there for illustrative purposes, not to be included in addresses or parts of addresses when one is actually writing to them. To change JAWS punctuation effectively, go to your JAWS by whichever method you use to get into the JAWS menus; then choose Basics: then choose Voices submenu; Then tab into the ensuing dialogue, and in the 3rd field switch punctuation from All to Some by arrowing up. (This is better than hsetting it to none, as you will hear Web addresses properly thus.) then tab to ok, and hit enter. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tony Sweeney" <tonysweeney1@xxxxxxxxxx> To: "vics" <vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, May 24, 2006 6:32 PM Subject: [vicsireland] Jaws not to speak everypunctuation! Hi All I wonder if you could let me know how I can prevent Jaws from speaking every punctuation mark?I am a little bewildered, say for example when we might wish to use the "setmail" for example when going on holiday, I think that it may be necessary to use brackets before and after vicsireland so we would need to know about the brackets by Jaws speaking them to us! Now say you are receiving instruction by email you may not want jaws speaking quotation marks as that would not be necessary for you to use when carrying out the instructed task! I am indeed very grateful to those who impart I.T instruction but I do find the use of quotation marks in instruction and list answers very offputting indeed. So to speak brackets but not quotes? Trust I haven't totally confused you all at this stage! All the best Tony Sweeney.
