[vicsireland] Re: Met Eireann's 5-day forecast not accessible.

Hi Flor,

I would imagine that RTE get their weather forecast from Met Eireann
anyway? Since the radio and tv weather forecasts come from that source, it
seems reasonable to assume that the online version is direct from Met
Eireann as well.

Tim

I also happened to believe that Met Eireann, being the national Weather
Service for Ireland, upon which government agencies, companies,
organisations, and individuals rely, would be superior in the quality
of its information dispensed than other providers and affiliates.
However, it has emerged that RTÉ Weather's 3- to 5-day forecast does
provide much of the type of information we'd be looking for, for that
time scale. How 'official' is RTÉ Weather?

RTÉ do provide daily weather information, though I'm not sure at the moment
whether on their main news Website itself. . One can access it through
Aertel, Aertel Mobile, or get their weather email - just popped into my head
now, that - or in their daily news email compilation. Perhaps something like
what the BBC do regarding long-range or 5-day forecasts, , as Tim describes,
may be adequate; but then, the BBC generally - even on TV and radio - give
more detailed daily weather forecasts than our broadcasters. However, I
think that in general we do get adequate info for our daily weather
forecasts. I went looking at the time of the first severe weather outbreak,
but was disappointed with the paucity of textual info for the 5-day
forecasts on www.meteireann.ie .

Hi there, I am only trying to be devils advocate here. I am aware its
important to some but I suppose in fairness they do have to know that if
they need to make ajustments to the way they provide information its going
to be used and maxamised. Something I haven't checked out but do RTÉ
provide forcasts?
