Sometimes, Jaws just has problems reading the window your in. Try control, insert and w to vertualize the current window. This will put all the text from that error report into an easy to read virtual buffer. Then just use the arrow keys to read it. You can also use control + A to select all then control + C to copy all the text to the clipboard. Then, when jaws is back working properly, just control v in notepad or another text input area and it will paste for you. 

If you really need to find out what the error is, do the following:
1. Go to the start menu then go to run. (Windows key + r) will bring you straight to this. 
2.  type the word: "eventvwr" without the quotations ("") then press enter.
3.  Press the letter S twice to jump to system.
4.  Press tab to move to the information in that category.
5.  press alt v to jump to the view menu.
6.   Press the letter I to go into the filter option.
7. Now uncheck all the boxes except error. When you've passed the check boxes, press enter to apply your changes. 8. Now you can just read through the crytical system errors that you have experienced. 

To do this, arrow through the list.
When you get to an error you want to investigate, press tab.
The most important information are the details and the error id.

Hope that helps.
It might sound complicated, but you'll not do any harm by looking through the event viewer so don't worry about it.

When the  error appears,  is there an  IT  person  there   or somebody else
sighted to read the screen for you?

If so,  perhaps you could send us  the error message.  As you say, sounds
like an application is crashing, and it is prompting  you to send an error
report to the  developers.  This is  quite common,   but if you click 'don't
send' the problem should go away and Jaws should work normally.

Having said that, we can't even be sure its Jaws causing the crash,  it
could be any number of reasons.

Thanks for your mails.

Next time the message came up I was going to try the PC Cursor but it hasn't
come up since and JAWS not read it out.  There was no 'ok' button on it
though.  It was either 'Send Error Report' or 'Don't Send Error Report'.

I think it was an application crashing not JAWS but the I.T. people in work
aren't sure what application exactly is crashing because it crashes when I'm
using different applications.

There's no I.T. person familiar with JAWS in work as I amthe the first JAWS
user to work there.

As Louise mentioned, using the Jaws cursor could work here. caps lock plus p
is the keystroke, then use the up / down arrow keys and see how you go.

Depending on the error though Jaws may still not read anything. Do you have
any idea what the message is about? Is it Jaws itself that's crashing or is
it another application? Since your PC won't turn off normally it sounds like
a total system crash.

If this is the case, to turn the machine off, try pressing and holding the
on / off button for about 10 seconds. I find that this does the trick for
me. No need to wait until the battery drains.

Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble with my laptop in work which I do have I.T. looking into
but if I could do anything myself it would be good.

These error report messages keep coming up but JAWS doesn't always read them
out.  When it doesn't, the laptop won't let me do anything.  At the weekend
I even just tried powering it off but it wouldn't.  I just had to let the
battery die cause there was nobody to get me out of the error report
message.  Is there anyway I could get JAWS to read this message?

I know there is a key stroke for reading messages if for example a message
comes up and JAWS only reads out the buttons available on the message,
that'd be insert and b, for Barry.
But that isn't working with this message, any ideas?
