Hi Tim,
I’ve only tried it on one product so far. It’s a bit tricky but I did manage to
get a scan.
If it is not in their database it will still do a scan and a pop up message
will tell you that the product could not be identified.
It’ll be interesting to see how good their database is for Irish products.

Hi Tim.
In my experience, the bar code reading is a bit hit and miss, in that it
often works, sometimes it doesn't.
Also, I was having trouble getting the option to vieww images from other apps
to work in Seeing AI. Eventually, I got it to work by trying a different
JPEG file from the one I had been attempting to read. Itt then dawned on me
that I had been trying to open an attachment that was sent as a website link
and that trying to read the image in Safari doesn't work. But I am open to
correction on this. Perhaps it is the JPEG itself, although I know that it
contained text.

Anybody have success with the products channel with scanning bar codes?
I can hear the beeping sound to indicate I’m near a bar code, but it never
seems to find it.
Of course, perhaps the bar code is not in its database?

Hello Tim,if you switch on airplane mode you are unable to use the channel
document mode. There is no problem using the short text mode. I believe it is
important not to scan sensitive documents.

Yes,have tried it and the OCR seems pretty good.
Dave, from what you say, is it true that OCR is being done in the cloud
rather than on the phone?

Hi all,
You might be interested to know that Microsoft’s Seeing AI app is now
available here in Ireland.
The app does live text recognition with the camera, OCR on documents,
barcode recognition, and image recognition. It seems pretty powerful for a
free app, though of course I’m sure you’re paying with your data instead of
cash.
I’ve only had a quick look so far but it looks pretty good. I successfully
read the packaging on a Marks & Spencer’s meal with the live text recognition
for example :)
