Agree with Paul's pronouncements here. Mailwasher Pro has been recommended to
me as a good spam interceptor, and it is, of course, not free - what, about $20
or 30. (This is the full version of the free program that some of you know.)

Yes, the eircom anti-spam software is something eircom users must pay for.

  Hi,

Look, spam is going to happen in your emails due to the very fact you surf
the net. Just going to a few select pages doesn't mean you are safe because
while you are up on the web for any length or visiting what you consider the
cleanest of sites is no protection. There are special robots on the web that
harvest peoples email address and then despatch them to their owners who in
turn send you all their trash mail. Here in the South eircom claim to have a
spam mail filter which stops this problem but how good it is I don't know
and also it is not a free service I believe.

As for having spybot and add-aware these programs don't stop spam mails but
simply remove any hidden spyware that is resident on your computer. It helps
a lot to keep spyware off your machine as the parasites that get into your
PC from the net can cause lots of problems far worse than spam emails do.
Don't however think because you have either one of the above mentioned
programs on your PC that you should have no bother with spam mails.

  Paul.

Hi Maureen, I also have just started to get all this span mail too, I don't
know why this should be, I was never bothered before, in fact if I got one a
  month.

I'm running spybot and avg, and I delete my cookies every couple of days
  too, as well
  as running as-aware. I
don't know why this has suddenly started to happen.

I am getting a considerable amount of spam such as adds and such like, is
there any way of getting rid of them?

  Maureen.
