Hi, Donal,

Someone in tech support in DCU could probably do an image copy to an
external drive or disk and transfer everything? Then again, if the old
laptop is a bit dicey maybe you don't want an exact copy.

You could try Dropbox, but that won't copy favourites.

You could try a piece of software to help with copying data with a LAN drive
as an intermediary. You might even be able to do so using a direct link via
a cable or bluetooth connection. Have a look at:
http://www.komando.com/downloads/2218/the-faster-easier-way-to-copy-your-fil
es

There used to be a piece of software called LapLink that did this sort of
thing, but I don't know if it still exists. It might be worth having a
search for it.

If all else fails, you could talk to God, better known as Barry mcMullen.
I'm sure he could sort this out in his sleep.

Hope this helps.

Take care,

Gerry Ellis

If you don’t know where you’re going,
How will you know when you get there?

Subject: [vicsireland] moving data from one windows machine to another.

Hi folks,

For the first time in about 6 years, I’ve to set up a windows machine from
scratch. I have an old laptop here all right but now it’s dying so I have a
new one. Anyway to the point: Is there anything that would assist me
moving all user data (documents, email, favourites etc) across from one
machine to another?

Info appreciated,
