Hi, Noel and Donal,

That Documents and Settings folder was the correct one up to Windows XP. It
is now the Users folder. However, I would not trust just copying this as it
would bring across information that is specific to your old laptop. It might
also overwrite information that you do not want overwritten.

I have heard mixed reports on the programme that is built into Windows 7.
Some say it works great, but others have issues particularly because of lack
of access to files and folders that the programme should have access to. It
does not take much searching to find that this problem with access is a
problem that has annoyed Windows 7 users since its earliest days and I can
testify to being one who had that experience. It is definitely worth a try.

Don't ention Crystal palace to a Chelsea fan! Then again, there were plenty
of occasions that I enjoyed during the season, most of which involved
embarrassments for a certain team in red at home in Manchester ...

Take care,

Gerry Ellis

If you don’t know where you’re going,
How will you know when you get there?

Hi Donal

If you go into MyComputer, on the C Drive there is a Documents and settings
folder.
In here is an all users folder. All the accounts on the PC will be in this
folder, and as long as all your files are in the MyDocuments folder, just
copy these user files to an external drive or to a network drive, and copy
them down to the new PC.

When copying them to the new PC just go into the folder and copy the My
documents folder.

Hope this is what you wanted. As I think it is the easiest way to do this.

new one. Anyway to the point: Is there anything that would assist me
moving all user data (documents, email, favourites etc) across from one
machine to another?
