Hi Robbie,

From the desktop, or from the start menu programs accessories whatever,
that's what I meant. (Sorry if that's pedestrian stuff.) Some programs (at
least on my new PC, and remember it's new to me, anyway, won't take a
shortcut key, though they could theoretically, when their properties are
accessed from the start menu; but they will if their properties are accessed
from their icons on the desktop.

Hi Flor!
I've tried all kinds of differen combinations.
What do you mean from another place? To my knowledge there are 2 ways of
entering the properties. Either via the file menue or by pressing
alt-enter. Doesn't make any difference though. It's the same old
properties.
To answer Paul, I'm still authorised to change things in the control
panel, so I don't think it's to do with permitions.

Cheers,
Robbie

Have you tried accessing the properties from another place and creating
the
keyboard shortcut there instead? have you tried using a different key
combination as your shortcut key? (I've found that that can work,
though I
really can't tell you why.)

Hi folks!
For some reason I can no longer assign a key combination to a short cut
in the properties.
The key combination I press appears, but on pressing OK or Apply, the
entry goes back to None.
Strangely, when I delete a key combination and press Apply, it remains
deleted, so I'm authorised to make changes, but when trying to reenter
the combination previously assigned, no joy, it remains on None.
To quote Bob Geldoff: Tell me why!
Cheers,
Robbie
